The Epic Group Writers will read from their work all three days of the festival.

Members of the Epic Group Writers, a local writing group, will be reading pieces of their work on the Plaza all three days of the Edmonds Arts Festival. The readings will take place from noon to 12:50 p.m. on August 27, 28, and 29.

Epic Group Writers is based in Edmonds. Its mission is to create and sustain a community of writers of all levels and backgrounds who share, encourage, and nurture literary and other creative arts for the benefit of the community at large.

Epic Group Writers was formally started in 2012, but the genesis of Epic Group started in 2011, when founding member Janette Turner wanted a year-round Write on the Sound program and was led to Edmonds College educator Amanda Laughland, and Judith Works, in the fall of 2011. The group agreed to start with an evening literary series hosted at the Edmonds Library.

The group has grown exponentially, both in membership and activities, since then. Epic hosts numerous events, as well as writing workshops for both poetry and prose writers and an annual writing contest that awards prizes for prose and poetry.

The Edmonds Arts Festival will take place August 27-29 at the Frances Anderson Center. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Parking and admission are free.

In addition to the Epic Group Writers, bands will be performing live at the amphitheater. For more information about performing arts at the festival, visit the Performing Artists page on our website.

But what the festival is really all about is the art. More than 160 juried artist booths will be on the field by the Frances Anderson Center, and 400 juried artworks will be on display inside the Frances Anderson Center. View a list of the booth artists here, or see a catalog of their work, which can be filtered by medium.

Student art will also be featured. Works by Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation Art Student Scholarship winners, as well as a virtual display of works by Edmonds-area high school students, will also be on display at the Frances Anderson Center.
