Community Art Engagement
The Edmonds Art Festival Foundation is committed to the support of visual art instruction in the Edmonds School District. In the past, the Foundation has provided grants to teachers and schools, through the Art Instruction Grant program, which provided additional art instruction in classrooms. After evaluating the number of students and schools impacted by our Art Instruction Grant program, the Foundation wanted to expand its reach in the school district and therefore started to transition away from the grant model of funding. The Foundation is currently supporting visual art instruction in the Edmonds School District with several partnerships.
Art Start NW, located in Graphite Art Center, has partnered with five elementary schools with high free/reduced lunch rates. The Foundation has provided $12,000 to purchase art supplies and sketch books for participating schools to create “art closets” which teachers can access for art education.
Edmonds School District Middle and High School Funding - The Foundation is once again providing $15,000 to the Edmonds School District to assist middle and high school art teachers by providing needed art supplies, field trips and visiting artists not currently supported by the 2025/26 district budget.
The Foundation provided $2500 to the VOICE (Vocational Opportunities in Community Experiences) program for Special Education students aged 18-21. This funding restores art classes which were eliminated from the Edmonds School District budget.
Looking for the Art Instruction Grant application?
As we transition away from the AIG program, we realize there may be instances where support is still wanted or needed. Art Instruction Grants (AIG) will be considered for the 2024/25 school year on a first come, first serve basis and funds are limited for these requests. If you are interested in applying for these funds, please complete the AIG Transition Application.
