Open Class Entry Instructions

K-12 student artists who do not have the School Select option, or did not qualify through the School Select program, are invited to submit art for consideration through Open Class Selection. Open Class is juried by two professional artists selected by the directors of the EAF Student Art Gallery.

April 26-May 2 Online Registrations accepted
May 1-2 In-person Registrations accepted
May 20-24 Notifications of juried selection and delivery instructions
June 14-17 Festival

Eligibility

Students must be in grades K-12 and one of the following must apply:

  • Be currently enrolled in the Edmonds School District
  • Be currently enrolled in a private school within the District boundaries
  • Home-schooled or a resident within the Edmonds School District boundaries

Elementary (grades K-6): Limit 1 piece per student (school select or open class)

Secondary (grades 7-12): Limit 2 pieces total per student (school select and/or open class)

Criteria

The gallery will accept:

2-D Art: Watercolor, Pen & Ink, Photography, Paper, Tempera, Pencil, Acrylic, Print Making, Mixed Media, Digital, Other. 2-D work may not exceed 24”x36”.

3-D Art: Ceramics, Glass, Mosaic, Fiber, Wood, Paper Mache’, Metal, Other. 3-D work may not exceed 80”hx30”x30”. Large pieces – make prior arrangements.

Not Accepted:

Modeling clay artwork
Lego or kit creations
Works considered too fragile for transport/installation
Collaborative/group projects
Glass frames
Saw tooth hangers – stretched canvas must have wire hangers

Registration Procedures

Online registrations are accepted April 26 – May 2. Application link will go live April 26.

In-person registrations are accepted May 1 & 2, 2019, 2-6 pm at Edmonds School District’s Educational Service Center 20420 68th Avenue West, Lynnwood WA. In-person Registrations: A digital photograph will be taken of your artwork at the time of entry. Original artwork is not to be left at the District office.

Open class jury results and further instructions will be sent during the third week in May.

Monetary awards of excellence will be awarded by two professional artist jurors. One piece of artwork will be selected by the Student Art Directors to be the Student Art Poster of 2019. This honor will be awarded with a cash prize.
