Financial Support for the Arts

Art Student Scholarships

The Foundation annually provides post-secondary education visual arts scholarships to outstanding students. The scholarship fund is fully endowed and grants more than $30,000 each year to a number of qualifying students. Funding begins with the support of volunteers, patrons of the arts, sponsors and donors, and visitors to the annual Edmonds Arts Festival.

Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who are residents of the Edmonds School District service area, and who have a strong interest in the visual arts. Scholarships are also awarded to students enrolled in the Edmonds Community College Art Department and college level visual arts students renewing their scholarships. Students may re-apply each year that they remain in a visual arts curriculum.

The Foundation Scholarship Committee uses established evaluation criteria to select students based on their application, interview, and portfolio presentation.

Art Instruction Grants

Many impressive arts projects throughout the Edmonds School District begin with the award of this grant. Each fall, community educators are invited to apply for financial assistance to support visual arts related projects and curriculum-based programming. Multiple grants, totaling $25,000, are awarded annually.

Successful grant programs in public, private, and home schools within District boundaries include most visual arts forms, giving students learning opportunities not otherwise available. Museum field trips, art supplies and equipment, and continuing education for instructors may also be funded.
