Once again the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation awarded scholarships to students who are working toward a college degree in the arts. To be eligible, a student must be a senior, or have attended school, in a high school within the Edmonds Schools boundary; or are presently or have been enrolled in Edmonds College.

Students can renew their scholarships for four years if they are still enrolled in an arts-degree program. This year, half of our award winners were renewal students.

Special scholarships were awarded in addition to those from the EAFF: The Comet Scholarship, given by the Mummy family, went to Grace DeSota; the Sambataro Family scholarship went to Silvia Rickman; and a one-time scholarship in memory of Ken Reid was awarded to Wilson Kilgore.

We gave 26 awards. Our new student scholarships went to Emery Farstad, Emma Gibson, Emma Lund, Grace DeSota, James Thompson, Jerica Bartleson, Mackenzie Kier, Maikhanh Tran, Matthew Clayton, Mika Jamesson, Noelle Peck, Rachel Marts, Sylvia Rickman, and Wilson Kilgore.

Renewal students are Charlotte Day, Danielle Hulen, Erick Wong, Hana Berisha, Isaac Vaa, Kevin Ng, Kristen Walter, Nicole Brunette, Quinlon Merrin, Tesla Kawakami, Trevor Leen, and Zoya Kulikov-Wickizer.

Our Edmonds scholars will be attending colleges in several locations: colleges they will attend include Biola University, the University of Washington, Oregon State University, Edmonds College, the Pratt School of Art and Design, Lewis and Clark College, the Fashion Institute of Technology, the University of Arizona, Cornish College of the Arts, Savannah College of Art and Design, New York University, Loyola – Marymount University, and Western University.

We have a broad view of what we have established as qualifying for a scholarship; it must be a degree in the visual arts but could be digital art, architecture, fine arts, or any related fields. We encourage students to apply in all arts-related degree programs.

The scholarship winners will have a piece of their art displayed in the juried gallery at this year’s festival. Please visit our galleries inside the Francis Anderson Center to view their budding talent!
