Who We Are

Who We Are

A three-day festival in Edmonds celebrating the arts where attendees can view and purchase original art, enjoy free entertainment, celebrate our talented youth, and sample great food.

The Edmonds Arts Festival
As one of the longest-running Northwest premier arts events, the Edmonds Arts Festival is a three-day event that celebrates the arts in our community. Scenic downtown Edmonds, just 15 miles north of Seattle and overlooking Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains, gives patrons a beautiful setting to view and acquire original works of fine art and crafts. The event provides three days of free entertainment, shopping, and dining to area locals and visitors alike.
The Edmonds Arts Festival Association
The Edmonds Arts Festival Association is a not-for-profit organization that produces the Edmonds Arts Festival and other arts events and exhibitions; it also supports educational programs and facilities where community members can enrich their cultural lives. The Association is managed by an all-volunteer board of directors consisting of more than 20 members. They meet throughout the year to assure a first-class event and are passionate about their mission of giving back to the community.

The Edmonds Arts Festival Association has supported the arts in the Pacific Northwest for over five decades.  Since the beginning of this beloved community event, individuals, businesses, and artists have given their time and resources to produce a premier arts event and exhibition – the Edmonds Arts Festival.

Determined to create an invitational art exhibit for Edmonds, members of the city’s Coterie Club used funds from their own pockets to produce the first Festival in 1957. It wasn’t until 1976 that the Festival actually made a profit; although it was only $75, the event’s leadership created a non-profit organization, the Edmonds Arts Festival (EAF) Foundation, which became the primary benefactor of the Festival’s profits. The EAF Foundation Gallery, located at the Frances Anderson Center, showcases Northwest artists and artwork from the EAF Museum collection. The Foundation has funded several public art pieces throughout the city and was instrumental in the funding and development of The Edmonds Center for the Arts.

The Festival and Foundation continue to work together to promote and support the local arts community with community grants and visual arts scholarships. Now sponsors and hundreds of outstanding volunteers put on this event, which has become a year-round endeavor and a valuable source of funding for art education and public art that enrich our community. In 1980, the Frances Anderson Center and adjacent playfield became the home of the Edmonds Arts Festival  where it continues to thrive today, attracting as many as 50,000 visitors throughout the three-day event.

Through the years, the Edmonds Arts Festival Association has grown, resulting in a leadership role in the production of other events and in the sponsorship of organizations that contribute to their ongoing mission. The Association currently manages other arts events throughout the year, including the Edmonds Art Studio Tour held in September, ARTSplash, a four-day art show and sale in July exhibiting original art by established and emerging artists, the Previously Loved Art Sale held in October, and Artists in Action, a summer-long event produced in partnership with the Port of Edmonds. The Association also manages ArtWorks. a gathering place for artists conveniently located in downtown Edmonds, and a place to take classes, attend art shows and sales, and hold other art-related activities.
